Don’t you know that books can help you meet new people? How? By organizing a book club! I could remember when my friends and I would talk for hours about the books that we have read over the summer break. It was a fun time talking about the amazing books for young adults that we have devoured when we were away from school. Amazing books for young adults have powerful messages that relates perfectly with our age and the issues we faced in our lives as young adults back then. I could remember how we got so engaged in talking about Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Precious times indeed!
Today there are countless amazing books to read from emerging authors. Do you want to discuss these books with your friends for the fun of it and the chance to get together once in a while? Then start a teen book club! How do you go about this? Simple! Follow these easy steps:
1. Advertise. Let people know at school and in your neighborhood that you are organizing a book club. Email people, post posters all over and just talk about it. Let word of mouth do its work.
2. Choose a fun name for your club. Make it a point that the name sells well to other kids your age.
3. Set the specifics of your club. How often do you meet? Where will you meet? Ideally you rotate this to the members’ house with the host providing for snacks. When will be your first meeting? What is the subsequent schedule of the meeting?
4. Choose amazing books to read for teenagers. If you have a hard time deciding for this list down all the most amazing books to read and draw the titles to be read for the week.
5. Facilitate the discussion with a ready list of questions. This can make the discussion of the amazing books lively and engaging.
Book clubs are not only for adults and their romance novels. In fact, in my opinion, teen clubs have more fun with discussing amazing books for young adults.
