When the manufacturers are Lacoste, the preppy heritage label identified for its crocodile brand and boxy polo shirt, and fashionable crimson carpet staple Catherine Malandrino, the result’s a sporty, sensual collection that marries classic kinds with a modern fashion sensibility.
The women’s collection, Lacoste + Malandrino, riffs off of Lacoste’s iconic polo shirt, while taking into consideration a woman’s curves, said Malandrino, who created the line by draping the fabric – a softened-up cotton pique – on a model as a substitute of working with flat patterns.
“Immediately, it was a completely totally different type of clothing,” she said. “The garments grew to become 3-D.”
Malandrino’s reshaped polo shirt boasts smallish bat wings, a Lilliputian collar, a gently curving waistline and loads of draping, which lets the material pool prettily across the hips. The silhouette can also be used to prime short, sporty attire with pleated tennis-style skirts.

Prices range from $a hundred forty five for an extended, striped tank top (a play on the French Breton shirt) to $275 for an elegant blue-and-white knit tie-dye dress.
“Lacoste is basically [known] as a masculine brand,” famous Malandrino, who has seen all the boys in her household – from her grandpa to her son – wear Lacoste polos religiously. “I thought designing the gathering was an thrilling technique to cross the bridge between men and women. My father has been actually excited about this – so I wanted to point out him that I may do it.”
