Southpaw Time

I am a southpaw. Now that does not make me strange or weird or anything like that, I mean I should not be viewed in anyway like that, nor other left-handers like me. The trouble is, even though it is not really meant to be that way, circumstances do tend to make us feel like outsiders. And I tell you, it can make one feel pretty bad, about himself, the situation, and others around him. Sometimes you are simply frustrated, as you see most of the things around you are designed for right-handed people. It might not seem much, but having that for a problem can really leave one pretty frustrated. Imagine having to use things that are always meant for right-handers, be it school desks, or most of the tools that are used for everyday living. I tell you it is a situation that is far from being ideal, but I try to live it as best as I could, as I am sure other southpaws around the world try to do.

In terms of sheer numbers, I can’t say that people like me are totally in the minority. Research does show that around ten percent of all the people are actually southpaws, so that might serve as some consolation, if anything might. Still, in our everyday experience, you really would not be able to notice that as much. What we are seeking for, is actually more recognition that we do exist. And how could this be brought about? I believe, and I think others will agree, that one way of doing it is through creating more tools and deices for left-handed people. Just simple, everyday items would suffice, as it will somehow relieve some of the unnecessary stress that we do encounter quite often.

Take the case of a simple item such as a watch, for instance. For years, I have used a conventional type of watch, i.e., watches that were designed for right-handed people. Not that gave me any real discomfort, but I knew that if there was any watch designed for a lefty, it would be much better. Recently though, I discovered that indeed, there are left handed watches available. Imaging my relief and joy that after all this time, I finally found one. Actually, to me, it wasn’t as much as the comfort that it offers, but more the fact that it was actually made. Just the thought that we southpaws were considered is already enough for me. It definitely means that much. Now that doesn’t mean I’m no longer going to buy this watch that I’d had an eye for some time now. No, definitely not, especially reading the glowing Breitling Super Avenger review.
